The New Orleans Saints wide receiver room is nearly depleted. We say nearly, because one starter looks like he could be available for the Saints.

The New Orleans Saints have been getting feasted on by that dreaded injury bug so far in 2023. It's especially true of the Saints wide receiver room, with last week's loss to the Atlanta Falcons being something of a rock bottom in this regard. Actually, it could be seen as rock bottom in a lot of ways, but one thing at a time.

With Michael Thomas already on IR with a knee injury, Rashid Shaheed was forced to leave the game early with a quad injury, and Chris Olave suffered a concussion. It leaves things looker bleaker than they already were, especially with the big test that is the Detroit Lions next on the schedule.

It now appears that Olave may be available for the Saints after all.

Perhaps rather surprisingly, Olave was out there practicing with the Saints on Wednesday, and it's more of the same on Thursday, leaving the prospect of the stud wide receiver playing against the Lions looking likelier by the day. The same can't be said for Shaheed, who again missed practice on Thursday, but at least things are looking up more than they initially were as it pertains to the wide receivers.

Chris Olave has arguably been the team's MVP so far in the 2023 season. Sure, that may not be saying a whole heck of a lot given how this season has gone for the New Orleans Saints to this point. However, in the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king, and the fact that it's looking like he may be available this weekend, with every game being more and more crucial, is some much needed good news.
