The Saints obliterated the downtrodden Patriots 34-0 in Week 5 and now turn their attention to the upstart Houston Texans coming off a narrow 21-19 loss to Atlanta.
New Orleans finally got its offense in a groove to support what's been a strong defense, but the team faces a stiff test against rookie QB CJ Stroud, who overwhelmingly looks like the best first-year signal caller to this point.
Oddsmakers expect the Saints to find success on the road in a low-scoring affair. Here's what the opening odds look like for this Week 6 matchup:
Saints vs. Texans Week 6 Opening Odds
Led by Derek Carr and the return of Alvin Kamara, New Orleans kicked things into gear in Week 5 and now hope to carry that momentum into Houston.
The Texans had scored 30 or more points in consecutive weeks prior to only putting up 19 against the Falcons, and they've covered the spread in three straight contests. On the other hand, yesterday was the first time the Saints covered in six tries, so head coach Dennis Allen hopes it will be a launching pad for an improving team.
In their last eight games as road favorites, the Saints are 6-2 outright though three of the previous four were decided by three points or fewer. We can expect a tight contest, but New Orleans should have enough firepower to overcome the youthful Texans.
To its credit, Houston is an impressive 7-2 against the spread in its last nine as an underdog. The Saints have their work cut out for them, but if the Patriots game was any indication, they're up for the challenge.
