Saints vs. Colts Prediction, Odds, Spread, Injuries, Trends for NFL Week 8
By Jovan Alford
The New Orleans Saints will try to turn their season around on Sunday afternoon when they go on the road to play the Indianapolis Colts.
The Saints are coming off a tough 31-24 home loss against the Jaguars last week. New Orleans has lost four out of their past five games and a game behind the Falcons to first place in the NFC South. As for the Colts, they lost a heartbreaker last week at Lucas Oil Stadium to the Browns as RB Kareem Hunt punched in the game-winning touchdown.
Can Derek Carr right the ship and get New Orleans back in the win column? Or will Gardner Minshew send the Saints back to the Big Easy with their third consecutive loss? Below, we’ll break down this intriguing Week 8 matchup and give out our prediction using odds from FanDuel.

Saints vs. Colts Key Players to Watch
Saints
Alvin Kamara: Since returning from his three-game suspension in Week 4, the Saints have made it a point to get Alvin Kamara the ball by any means necessary. Kamara has 269 rushing yards and a touchdown on 69 carries and ranked second on the team in receptions (35). Last week against Jacksonville, the star running back had 153 total yards on 29 touches (12 receptions for 91 yards). Do not be surprised to see Kamara make a huge impact and find the endzone against the Colts, who have allowed 10 rushing touchdowns to RBs this season (second-most in the NFL).
Colts
Josh Downs: The rookie wide receiver is starting to emerge as a playmaker inside the Colts’ offense, which is excellent news for Minshew and Michael Pittman Jr. Downs had his best game as a pro last week against the Browns. The former UNC standout had five receptions (six targets) for 125 yards and a touchdown. In the three games Minshew has started in, Downs has picked up 26 targets. With Pittman Jr. likely defended by Marshon Lattimore, Downs could be in store for another good game.
Saints vs. Colts Prediction and Pick
The Saints have been on the wrong end of two bad losses recently, but they will bounce back this week against the Colts. Indianapolis’ defense hasn’t looked spectacular over the last two weeks, allowing 38 points per game. At the same time, New Orleans’ offense hasn’t looked crisp either, scoring 13 and 24 points against Houston and Jacksonville in the last two weeks.
Nonetheless, I wouldn’t be shocked to see the Saints’ defense get after Minshew, who has been sacked 12 times and thrown four interceptions. Finally, if New Orleans can find some balance on offense and have better success in the red zone (37.5%), they have enough playmakers and star power to get a tight road win.
Best Bet: Saints ML (-102)
