The 2024 NFL Draft is just over a week away, which makes this the last week that prospects can visit with teams. The New Orleans Saints made sure to capitalize, recently hosting one of the most exciting prospects in the draft class for a top-30 visit. It was reported that Western Kentucky receiver Malachi Corley was with the Saints on Monday.

Corley is a receiver prospect that has been linked to New Orleans all throughout the draft process because of his fit with the team’s offense. If he finds his way to New Orleans, it will be a partnership that’s great for him, the team, and the fans.

Saints host Malachi Corley for a top-30 visit

Corley has been referred to as a running back trapped inside a wide receiver. That’s because of his build at 5-foot-11 and 215 pounds, and his elite run-after-the-catch ability. Once the ball is in Corley’s hands, he can make magic happen. In four seasons at Western Kentucky, he caught 259 passes for 3,035 yards and 29 touchdowns. He also carried the ball 16 times for 92 yards.

Naturally, considering his size and skill set, his professional comparison is Deebo Samuel. That’s a big reason why the Saints have been considered a fit for Corley. New Orleans’ new offensive coordinator, Klint Kubiak, spent last season as the passing game coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers. He knows first hand how to utilize players with Samuel’s skillset.

Malachi Corley, if drafted by the Saints, would address the team’s need for a receiver after the departure of Michael Thomas. Beyond filling in as a receiver, Corley will be another versatile weapon added to an offense that already has a couple of versatile weapons. With Alvin Kamara and Taysom Hill returning, two players that are great taking carries and catching the ball, Kubiak and the Saints would be able to utilize some unique packages if they add Malachi Corley.
