Saints Super Bowl 59 odds (Not much New Orleans love from oddsmakers)

The Saints came up short in the NFC South last season. Oddsmakers are not counting on a massive leap from New Orleans in 2024.

The New Orleans Saints entered the 2023 season as the favorite to win the NFC South. They ended it on the outside looking in, finishing second in the division at 9-8 and there’s little optimism for the club heading into 2024, according to oddsmakers.

The Saints started 5-7 last season, but turned its season around by winning four of their final five games, though it was too late as Tampa Bay won the division via tiebreakers.

The Saints will return the same head coach in Dennis Allen, who is 16-18 in his two seasons. New Orleans will return defensive coordinator Joe Woods for the second consecutive year but will have a new offensive coordinator in Klint Kubiak.

Just one change to the Saints’ core wasn’t enough to move the needle.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, New Orleans is the 22nd favorite to win the Super Bowl at +7500 ($100 bet wins $7,500). That gives the Saints an implied probability of 1.32% to win the second Lombardi Trophy in franchise history. New Orleans will be underdogs to make the playoffs for the first time since Drew Brees retired in 2020.

The Saints are the third-favorite in their division, trailing the Atlanta Falcons (+4500) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+7000).

After rallying to finish second in the NFC North, New Orleans’ 2024 schedule includes matchups with fellow divisional runners-up (all playoff teams) in the Los Angeles Rams, Cleveland Browns and Green Bay Packers.

If you’re looking for a bigger longshot on the Saints, turn to the MVP odds board. Quarterbacks secure the first 24 spots to win MVP, but New Orleans quarterback Derek Carr is getting little love. Carr is +15000 to win the MVP, the same odds as Denver quarterback Russell Wilson and he’s behind some non-quarterbacks in the odds board, including Justin Jefferson, Christian McCaffrey, Tyreek Hill (all +10000) and tied with CeeDee Lamb (+15000). In his first season in New Orleans, Carr threw for 3,878 yards, 25 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.
