Anyone with the last name Nacua seems to be destined for the NFL lately. After the success of Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua during a record-breaking rookie season, the New Orleans Saints are letting his older brother Samson Nacua get a crack at making the final roster.

The elder Nacua has bounced around rosters frequently in the last few years, menaing he knows all too well that he needs one or two big plays to show this coaching staff he can play at a high level in the pros. The Tennessee Titans affored Nacua just that sort of opportunity in the final preseason games for both teams.

Nacua returned a missed field goal well over 100 yards as he pursued a touchdown, weaving away from tacklers in the process. However, Nacua was found to have stepped out just before the end zone, negating his dive into the end zone. Even with those points taken off, Nacua raised Dennis Allen's eyebrows with that play.

Nacua was a solid contributor at Utah before joining rivals BYU, where his brothers attended. He failed to make the Indianapolis Colts in 2022, which led him to try his luck in spring leagues. Nacua logged gamed for the USFL's Pittsburgh Maulers and UFL's Michigan Panthers.

Nacua is the third member of his family to make it to the NFL. In addition to Puka in Los Angeles, older brother Kai Nacua was used as a safety and special teamer who recorded 19 tackles across stints with the 49ers, Jets, and Colts. Samson has not logged any NFL stats, but the Saints might be giving him an opportunity to do just that if he can carve out a special teams role.

On a team that is already lacking wide receiver depth, why can't Nacua be a 53-man roster player? He's already shown he can be an impactful returner, which will be even more in focus this year due to the new rules.
