Saints news revolves around Sean Payton's potential future in the NFL, where Tom Brady could go after this season, and the New Orleans Saints sticking with Andy Dalton at quarterback after their BYE week finished up.

The last time we saw the Saints in action, they blew a 16-3 lead to lose 17-16 to a Buccaneers team that got worked by a seventh-round rookie quarterback. Hey, is Brock Purdy available, 49ers? The Saints might be interested. (Kidding -- Though would that really be that ridiculous?)

Jeff Duncan floated a story this past weekend about how when speaking to those close to Sean Payton, the No. 1 answer for where he'd be coaching in 2023 was the Saints, which I find hard to believe.

Speaking of Payton, he appeared on Tom Brady's "Let's Go!" podcast and that, of course, sparked some debate about could the two still want to work together. As you know by now, Payton and Brady tried to work something out under the table where they could both be members of the Dolphins but it fell through. Brady will be a free agent in 2023 and Payton, who is under contract with the Saints for three years, could want to return to coach.

Lastly, the Saints are going to stick with Dalton despite Jameis Winston being under contract for next year. Dennis Allen said that he likes what he's seen from Dalton.

Here's what's trending in Saints news from around the web.

Jeff Duncan: If Sean Payton is going to coach somewhere in 2023, it needs to be the Saints [Jeff Duncan, NOLA]

Here's the piece from Duncan on how if Payton returns to coaching next year, it'll be in the Big Easy. I have a hard time believing that.

Tom Brady could jump ship to join NFC South rival in 2023 [Aryanna Prasad, FanSided]

Prasad goes more into detail about what I briefly mentioned above. She links to Brady's podcast where Payton appeared and pointed out why it could make sense that the two link up together in New Orleans. They share the same agent and Brady will be a free agent while Payton will be at the Saints' mercy if he wants to make a return to coaching.

Saints Announce Their Week 15 Starting Quarterback [Bob Rose, SI]

As mentioned above, Dalton gets the start this week when the Saints head to Atlanta for a date with the Falcons. There's really no benefit to playing Dalton right now, as the team is the worst in a garbage division and Dalton is a free agent at season's end. Yet... Here we are.
