In Saints news, Dennis Allen spoke to the media on Monday following the team's 10-7 loss to the Panthers and addressed his future with the team. Allen said he expects to be the head coach of the Saints in 2023 and is excited about it.

Also in Saints news, first-round rookie Trevor Penning suffered a Lisfranc injury in the season finale. Taysom Hill suffered this same injury and ended up playing in Week 1 but that won't necessarily be the case here.

"That's also the sense that we gathered towards the end of the year, that his job would be safe. Allen said that he's only had preliminary discussions with general manager Mickey Loomis, but will be sitting down with the team's braintrust over this next week to discuss the season. He also later said that he feels that he has owner Gayle Benson's support. According to Allen, they'll look at every aspect of the team and operation and come up with a plan going forward. "

It would have been surprising if the Saints fired Allen considering we started getting a sense of that his job would be safe. The Saints had a ton of injuries this season and they did finish the season on a 3-1 run and nearly ran the table.
