The Saints’ most underrated player is entering the biggest season of his young career
In a recent article from PFF, they outlined each team's most underrated player. For the New Orleans Saints, PFF selected Paulson Adebo. To many Saints fans, this isn’t surprising. Adebo had a breakout year this season and is just now starting to get national attention.
Adebo is entering his fourth year in the NFL. Last year, the cornerback recorded a total of four interceptions, which tied him for most on the team with Tyrann Mathieu. Adebo had a strong start to the year recording an interception in Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans. He then cemented himself as a star cornerback for the team when he rallied together three interceptions between Weeks 8 and 9. Because of his outstanding play, Adebo received NFC Defensive Player of the Week after his Week 9 performance.
Paulson Adebo named Saints most underrated player
Adebo’s play is only expected to improve in the coming years as he is still a young player. He is just 24 years old and is now entering an important contract year. The team doesn’t have the option to bring Adebo back on a fifth-year option, as he was a third round pick. The Saints may elect to sign him to an early season extension, similarly to what they did with Carl Granderson last year. This would benefit them as that would sure up the cornerback room for years to come.
Paulson Adebo’s emergence has been key to the team's success. Marshon Lattimore has shown an inability to stay on the field these past couple of years. The emergence of Paulson Adebo, Alontae Taylor, and Isaac Yiadom in past years has allowed the team to still compete. Although Marshon Lattimore’s future with the Saints is uncertain, the Saints have done an amazing job developing talent to fill in behind him.
