If nothing else, New Orleans Saints fans have the first two weeks of the season, when everything went right. That’s what fans are thinking right now, because just about everything is going wrong. The Saints dropped their first game of the season in Week 3, but that’s the least of anyone’s concern right now.

Instead, everyone is worried about the health of the team. On Wednesday, New Orleans released its first injury report of the week, and the list of players isn’t just long, it’s filled with several key veterans.

Looking at the list, it’s very easy to see why New Orleans’ fans might be panicking. Alvin Kamara missed practice with an injured hip and injured ribs, and Demario Davis missed with a hamstring injury. Those are New Orleans’ best players on both sides of the ball, and their availability for a big Week 4 divisional game is in question.

With Erik McCoy already placed on injured reserve, Cesar Ruiz also missed Wednesday’s practice, meaning the interior offensive line is decimated.

Even the good news on the list, like players returning or guys having full practices, has a dark cloud, because it was revealed Derek Carr is dealing with a groin injury. While he didn’t miss any practice, seeing the starting quarterback deal with any kind of injury is never good.

Ultimately, this is just a Wednesday practice, and all of these guys could be back on the practice field by Friday, and ready to play in Sunday’s game. Still, this has to make fans think about the rest of the season. It’s no secret the Saints are an old team, and they’re already pretty beat up in Week 4.

Unfortunately, things are more likely to get worse than better. It doesn’t help that New Orleans really isn’t a deep team. The Saints have star players, but they absolutely need those stars to be healthy and available if the team is going to make noise this year.
