The New Orleans Saints recently did one of their favorite things to do: add a former Raider to the franchise. From players to coaches to executives, New Orleans has quite a few former Raiders in the building. The latest in that line is former Las Vegas general manager Dave Ziegler. On Tuesday, the team announced that Ziegler was hired as a personnel advisor.

Since his time in Vegas ended, Ziegler has been affiliated with the Saints, serving as an offseason advisor in 2023. Now, he’s with the team full time in an official role.

Ziegler has worked in the league as an executive since 2010. He started his career with the Denver Broncos as a player personnel assistant and a scout. In 2013, he joined the New England Patriots, and really started to raise his profile during his nine years with the elite franchise.

While the Patriots were racking up Super Bowls, Ziegler held four different roles in scouting and player personnel. By 2021, he was the director of player personnel in New England, and that work earned him the general manager role with the Raiders.

Ziegler was only in Vegas for two seasons before the franchise decided to hit reset, but one move he made during his first year with the Raiders was releasing Derek Carr. Since he is now with the Saints, fans have joked about possible tension between Ziegler and Carr now that they are with the same franchise again.

The relationship between the two is unclear, but if there are any hard feelings, they can certainly put them to the side to focus on winning. In the end, if the Saints don’t win enough games this season, everyone in the franchise could be looking for new jobs.
