Saints defense needs to continue to make Steelers offense look miserable
Something has to give this weekend when the New Orleans Saints defense plays the Pittsburgh Steelers offense.
What do I mean by that, you ask?
Well, the Saints' defense currently has surrendered the fourth-most points on the year, per Team Rankings. On the other side of the coin, the Steelers' offense has scored the second-least points in the league.
To put into perspective how bad the Steelers offense has been in 2022, I bring you this tweet from Warren Sharp.
For all of New Orleans' shortcomings, their longest-touchdown of the year came from 60 yards out, which is in the top half of the league. Pittsburgh, however, has just an 8-yard touchdown as their longest on the year.
Saints defense can't let Steelers offense look good
As I mentioned above, something has to give in this game, right? Either the Saints defense continues to struggle and the Steelers finally show something on offense or the Saints defense balls out and continues to make Pittsburgh's offense look dreadful.
For what it's worth, we've seen games where the Saints defense has played well with the most recent prolific performance coming in Week 8 against the Raiders. In that game, the Saints dominated the Raiders offense and didn't even let them cross midfield until the two-minute warning of the fourth quarter. New Orleans won the game 24-0.
Even with all of the injuries NOLA has, their defense should be able to maintain the lackluster Steelers offense. At least that's the hope.
Which side do you think will prevail in this matchup on Sunday?
