Saints announce Jahri Evans will be inducted into Ring of Honor during 2024 season
Entering the 2024 season, the New Orleans Saints have some questions about their offensive line. That was rarely the case from 2006 to 2016, because the Saints had Jahri Evans dominating on the line. For 11 seasons in New Orleans, the former right guard proved he was one of the best lineman in the NFL.
Now, the franchise plans to recognize his greatness, announcing Evans will be inducted into the Saints Ring of Honor during the 2024 season. Already a franchise Hall of Famer, he will receive another prestigious honor from his team.
New Orleans announced Evans will officially be inducted during halftime of the Week 11 game against the Cleveland Browns on November 17.
Jahri Evans to be inducted into Saints Ring of Honor in Week 11
Evans was drafted by New Orleans in the fourth round of the 2006 Draft, but he immediately became a starter. Throughout his time with the team, he was always on the field, consistently dominating opponents. He ultimately played 169 games over 11 seasons for the Saints, starting all 169.
In those 11 years, Evans made six Pro Bowls, five All-Pro teams, the NFL’s 2010s All-Decade team, and helped New Orleans win Super Bowl 44, the only Super Bowl in franchise history.
Evans spent the 2016 preseason with the Seattle Seahawks, before ultimately returning to the Saints for one more season. After 2016, he ended his career with one season for the Green Bay Packers.
Since retiring, Evans has got into coaching, working with the team where he made his name as a player. In 2022, Evans was a preseason coaching intern for New Orleans. A year later, he was brought on to a full-time offensive assistant position for the Saints, and he still holds that position going into the 2024 season.
This year, Evans will step off the sideline and back on to the field as he gets inducted into the Ring of Honor.
