Round 6 Pick 192: Steele Chambers- Linebacker, Ohio State

In the sixth round, the Saints increase the depth at linebacker and select Steele Chambers. Linebacker is currently a position where the Saints have limited depth. Demario Davis and Pete Werner are both great players; there aren’t too many players who could fill in if one of them gets injured.

Steele Chambers is pretty small for a linebacker standing at 6-foot-1 and 226 pounds. He makes up for that with his speed and decisiveness. Despite not running the 40-yard dash, Chambers tied for first in the 3-cone drill and had the fastest time in the 20-yard shuttle among linebackers. He is a former running back so it makes sense. Chambers is very athletic but he has short arms and needs to get stronger. He has plenty of potential to be able to produce and be a solid linebacker for the Saints.

Round 6 Pick 200: Hunter Nourzad- Offensive Line, Penn State

With their final pick in the draft, the Saints select Hunter Nourzad, the offensive lineman from Penn State. Nourzad is an extremely versatile offensive lineman and can play all five positions. He played center this past season but he has experience at all five positions on the offensive line.

The Saints love picking versatile offensive linemen, they just selected one last year in Nick Saldiveri. Nourzad would help provide depth for the Saints at any position. They need that desperately as they have not been able to stay healthy these past couple of years.
