Rashid Shaheed has officially arrived for the Saints
The New Orleans Saints have a breakout star on their hands, and it's one that the Saints offense could really use to take them to the next level.
It's no secret that the offense of the New Orleans Saints has been, shall we say, "sputtering" in 2023, and a lot of it has to do with the trenches. However, a young playmaker has emerged on the outside, and while we wait for the Saints offensive line to get back in the swing of things (and they are looking to be in the process of doing so) the offense is set to take a leap forward to the next level as a result.
Coming into 2023, Rashid Shaheed was on our radar as someone poised to break out, and boy has he ever. Derek Carr was singing the speedster's praises during the summer, and it's easy to see why. He has big play ability, and that has been on full display so far this season.
During the Saints' much-needed win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Shaheed kicked things into an entire new gear.
Shaheed has flexed his return-man skill muscles, but now that the deep-threat arrow is officially in his quiver, the Saints have a legitimate weapon at their disposal.
Shaheed caught three balls for 153 yards and a touchdown in the win over the Colts, and if that doesn't scream "big play threat", then quite frankly nothing does. Thus far Shaheed has caught 23 of 38 targets for 479 yards and three touchdowns, and it's safe to surmise that those numbers will skyrocket in the coming weeks.
Make no mistake, the 2023 New Orleans Saints are still a work-in-progress. That said, with the official arrival of Rashid Shaheed onto the NFL scene, the goal of hosting a playoff game in the Superdome this season suddenly doesn't feel so farfetched. Feed this man.
