On Tuesday, NFL teams had to submit a 53-man roster, in preparation for the 2024 NFL season. The New Orleans Saints got their roster down to 53 players by cutting a ton of players, and placing other guys on Injured Reserve/PUP list. With so many moves made in one day, some surprising decisions were inevitable.

Fans were pleasantly surprised seeing some guys make the roster, while shocked at some of the players who missed out. In the end, everyone understands it’s a numbers game, and there will be some tough cuts. However, Saints fans did make it known there’s one player they believe shouldn’t have made the roster.

That player is Isaiah Foskey.

Saints fans not happy to see Isaiah Foskey make 53-man roster

Foskey is in the unfortunate group of players that fans have quickly grown tired of. A second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the young defensive end appeared in just 10 games as a rookie, recording nine tackles. Through one year and a preseason, he hasn’t given fans much to believe in, and they were sure he was gone.

Foskey was undoubtedly on the roster bubble, because he played a ton of snaps in the final preseason game, down to the last whistle. However, the decision makers in New Orleans must have saw what they wanted to see because they opted to keep Foskey.

He’ll have to prove to the fans why that was the right decision. With the addition of Chase Young, the Saints now have a pretty good edge rushing group. Carl Granderson is back, Cam Jordan is healthy, and so is Payton Turner. With all of those players at defensive end, Foskey will have to work for snaps. Barring any injuries, if he’s on the field in 2024, it’s because he’s taken significant strides. In just his second season, fans will be watching closely to see if that happened.
