The NFL is coming around to what the New Orleans Saints and their fans have already known, and that's that the Saints have a certified stud in their secondary.

Cornerback Paulson Adebo has been enjoying something of a breakout season for the New Orleans Saints so far in 2023, as his four interceptions are tied with DaRon Bland for the most among all NFL cornerbacks. The total is also good enough for second in the entire league. Speaking of the entire league, the NFL has come around and given the Saints corner proper recognition, and should hopefully be a sign of things to come.

For his game against the Indianapolis Colts that saw Adebo flying around the ball, forcing and recovering a fumble while picking off two passes, Adebo has been named the NFC's Defensive Player of the Week.

Adebo became the fifth player to accomplish that stat line since 2000, and the first since Charles Woodson in 2009. Woodson would go on to be named Defensive Player of the Year that season. For good measure, Adebo added on seven tackles, five of which were solo, and three defended passes.

He also is the sixth Saints defender to win this honor in the past ten seasons, and third corner to do so. The other two of course being Marshon Lattimore in week five of 2021 and PJ. Williams in week eight of 2018.

The defense of the New Orleans Saints have been great so far in 2023, and a good reason why the New Orleans Saints stayed afloat while the offense continues to catch up. Adebo is a big reason for that, as it gives the team a tremendous pair of corners that they can be confident in on the outside. This should be the first of many awards and honors for Paulson Adebo if he continues on this pace, and there is little reason to believe he won't.
