NOLA Saints need to take advantage of battered Rams in Week 11
This week will be the battle of two beat-up NFL teams, as the NOLA Saints host the Los Angeles Rams. Both teams have struggled this year but the Rams' struggles have been a lot more surprising considering they just won the Super Bowl 10 months ago.
While the Saints are nicked up like nobody's business, the Rams have a ton of playmakers also injured and unavailable. New Orleans has to take advantage of that when the two square off in the SuperDome this weekend.
Saints facing a beat-up Rams squad in Week 11
Obviously the two biggest names on the Rams offense are Cooper Kupp and Matthew Stafford, both of whom could miss this game. Kupp is for sure going to miss the game after injuring his ankle but Stafford could end up suiting up. He missed Week 10 vs the Cardinals due to being in concussion protocol.
In his place, backup quarterback John Wolford threw for just 212 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in a 27-17 loss to the Cardinals, who were also starting a backup quarterback (but a much more experienced one). Wolford hasn't been thrust into action much so if he is forced to play against the Saints this weekend, the struggling NOLA defense needs to make him look like a backup and not like a star.
That's going to be a challenge, however, as the Saints have allowed the eighth-most points per game this season, per Team Rankings. The Rams, on the other hand, have scored the fourth-fewest points per game and have scored the sixth-fewest points in the last three games. Something's got to give, right?
The Saints don't have many "winnable" games remaining on their schedule but this is one of them. They need to win it if they want to have any shot at making a run at the NFC South crown.
