Through two NFL seasons, Chris Olave has been a good NFL receiver for the New Orleans Saints. However, he hasn’t established himself as an elite, star wideout yet. One reason why is that he’s already played with multiple quarterbacks in two years. Another reason is just that he was a young receiver learning the NFL.

Now, as he enters year three, everyone is expecting him to take a leap towards superstardom. The Saints are demanding more of him, fans and media members have increased expectations, and Olave is even holding himself to a higher standard. There will be a ton of factors that determine how high he can go, but the sky is the limit for a player with his talent.

One expert is predicting Olave will accomplish something special this season. Kevin Patra, in a recent piece of the NFL’s official website, predicted the Saints wide receiver will be one of the players to make their first Pro Bowl this season.

Patra admitted he was shocked Derek Carr and Olave didn’t connect that well during their first season together, but even still, Olave was productive. Entering year two with Carr, and the first year with offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, Patra sees big things happening for the young receiver.

"Olave is a slick route runner who can get open off the line of scrimmage. Given the former Ohio State product's downfield acumen and Carr's propensity for throwing the deep ball, I would have guessed that they'd have connected more than seven times on passes of 20-plus air yards (per Next Gen Stats) last year. Olave's skills should fit better in Klint Kubiak's scheme than they did under Pete Carmichael in 2023; the new OC should find more open grass for the No. 1 wideout."

This seems to be the consensus surrounding Olave. Throughout training camp and the preseason, he was targeted a ton, so it’s clear he’s a focal point in the passing game. If the Saints can get the rushing attack rolling like Kubiak hopes to, and the offensive line can protect Carr, Olave should be able to put up some big numbers.
