Let’s be real, the New Orleans Saints are the best team in the league. It certainly seems that way after two weeks. Rolling through the Carolina Panthers and the Dallas Cowboys to start the season, New Orleans has put the league on notice. No team has been as impressive as the Saints to start the season.

Of course, it’s still incredibly early in the year, so the Saints have a long road ahead of them, but they’re currently a level above the NFC South, and everyone else in the league. Still, regardless of New Orleans’ margin of victory, the team is only 2-0, and the Saints aren’t the only 2-0 team in their division. So let’s look at how the rest of the NFC South stacks up after New Orleans.

NFC South power rankings after Week 2

4. Carolina Panthers

Previous ranking: 4

The NFL is entering Week 3 and the Carolina Panthers are already in a panic. The lost to the Saints in Week 1 47-10, and to the Los Angeles Chargers 26-3 in Week 2. Now, Carolina has decided to bench 2023 No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young, opting to start veteran Andy Dalton.

Truthfully, the Panthers are a joke from top to bottom, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they finish with the league’s worst record for a second year in a row.

3. Atlanta Falcons

Previous ranking: 3

The Atlanta Falcons were supposed to be the elite team in the division after their explosive offseason but they are significantly underwhelming right now. They are 1-1 after winning on Monday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles, but fans can’t take any comfort in that win.

For starters, the Eagles had a win in their hands and choked it away in the final two minutes. Additionally, the offense still didn’t look good outside of Bijan Robinson and the running game. Kirk Cousins and company still has a long way to go.

2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Previous ranking: 2

The division’s defending champs look like they’re prepared to be in the mix yet again. Currently 2-0, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming off a 20-16 win over the Detroit Lions in a Divisional Round playoff rematch. They proved they can win a hard fought game against a good opponent on the road, and that they’ll be factor in the NFC.

1. New Orleans Saints

The Saints have the best offense in the league right now, averaging 45.5 points a game. Their production through two weeks puts them in a rare territory with only Super Bowl teams. This doesn’t even take into account how great the defense is also playing.

New Orleans fans are having a ton of fun right now, and hoping the other shoe never drops. If the Saints keep this up, they have a chance to do something special.
