After a game lacking positives for the New Orleans Saints, there’s at least some fortunate news regarding the Saints QB1 who was injured in the loss.

There really isn’t any way to sugarcoat it, the New Orleans Saints collapse against the Green Bay Packers was a disaster. They were up 17-0, before everything eventually whittled away. Arguably the biggest turning point was when Derek Carr went down with a shoulder injury. It didn’t look good the way he was hit, especially when he was taken to the locker room for X-rays. Fortunately for the Saints, the injury wasn’t as serious as it could have been.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Carr is believed to have suffered an AC sprain, and while it isn’t IDEAL, and he should miss time, the injury isn’t considered season-ending.

As we alluded to before, this isn't exactly the greatest turn of events, but the Saints, and Carr, should be fortunate that things aren't a lot worse. They may not have outright dodged the bullet, but it looks like they were merely grazed by it.

So with this all being the case, it looks like we’re in store for Famous Jameis Winston with some Taysom Hill sprinkled in going forward for the time being. We got almost the full Jameis experience on Sunday, and it’ll be interesting to see how he does with a full week of prep, and the return of Alvin Kamara of course. It just goes to show how the Saints prioritizing having a high-profile backup quarterback on the roster appears to be paying off, even if it left heads being scratched at the time.

We’re now in the thick of things for the 2023 NFL season, and the season has already taken a left turn for the New Orleans Saints. It’ll be interesting to see where they end up.
