If the preseason meant more than it does, which isn't a lot, then there would be much reason to be excited for this New Orleans Saints team.

Going 2-0 through the first pair of exhibition games has to feel good, although it is, after all, just the preseason. Still, the Saints are using these games to truly shape their roster, which has a few spots that look wide open as the summer winds down.

As the Saints prepare to head into their final preseason matchup on Sunday with the Houston Texans, there are a handful of players who could be in danger of losing a roster spot altogether. You could say these are players "on the bubble," if you'd like.

1. Jack Heflin, DL

Starting up front on the defensive line, the Saints will probably wind up carrying five defensive ends, which is a deep group. Those five will likely be Cameron Jordan, Carl Granderson, Tanoh Kpassagnon, Payton Turner and Isaiah Foskey.

Looking internally, though, Jack Heflin appears on the bubble unless he has a monstrous game against Houston. At the moment, Heflin looks like he could be no. 5 in line on the interior, and the Saints will probably keep just four: Nathan Shepherd, Khalen Saunders, Bryan Bresee and Malcolm Roach.

That would leave the former XFL standout, Heflin, on the outside looking in, for now. Assuming the Saints wanted to keep him for their practice squad, there's belief he might not make it past waivers.
