Saints Monday Night Football position previews vs. Panthers
Running Backs
The Saints and Panthers both have some impressive backfield threats on their rosters, so let's take a dive into whose reigns superior.
The Panthers have a healthy backfield that consists of Miles Sanders, Chuba Hubbard, and the possible elevation of the recently acquired Tarik Cohen. That's a pretty scary three-headed monster to be perfectly honest. Now there's no guarantee that Cohen gets elevated off the practice squad and plays on Monday Night, but either way the one-two punch of Sanders and Hubbard still gives off an intimidating vibe.
The Saints would normally have Alvin Kamara for a week two matchup, but considering he's still serving a suspension stemming from his Las Vegas arrest, they'll be lead by Jamaal Williams in the backfield. There's optimism that rookie running back Kendre Miller will be healthy enough to play this week, but if not the backup scenario is gloomy in the Big Easy. Last week Jamaal Williams was held to just 45 rushing yards on 18 carries while his counterpart Miles Sanders ran for 72 on the same amount of carries.
We'll give Carolina the backfield advantage here, but if Kamara was playing it'd be a completely different story of course.
