Special Teams

Special Teams is a vital part of winning or losing football games that constantly gets overlooked, let's take a look at these special teams units. There's a reason why many say that special teams are a third of the game.

The Panthers have Eddy Pinero as their starting kicker, while Jonny Hekker serves as their starting punter. Pinero nailed a 43 yard field goal last week while Hekker averaged 53.2 yards per punt.

The Saints have two rookies at the helm of their special teams unit between Lou Hedley and Blake Grupe. Grupe nailed all three of his field goal attempts with his longest being from 52 yards out. Hedley averaged 48.2 yards per punt.

We'll give the advantage to New Orleans here.

So that's where things stand for the Saints as they get set to take on the Carolina Panthers in week two action on Monday Night Football to kick off their NFC South slate for 2023. This game should be interesting, but we expect the New Orleans Saints to come away victorious all things considered. It's a shame we have to wait until Monday Night, but it's looking like the end result will be well worth the wait.
