The New Orleans Saints have caught the biggest quarterback fish in the free agency sea, with Derek Carr now the new QB1 for the Saints.

If we're being honest with ourselves, this almost seemed inevitable. Derek Carr and the New Orleans Saints have been linked to each other for about almost a month now, to the point where even this very site probably exhausted all articles on Carr and the Saints' mutual interest. Well, get used to it Saints fans, because you (hopefully) have your new franchise quarterback.

The financial details of the deal have still yet to be reported as of this writing, but per NFL Network's lan Rapport, the Saints will be giving Carr a four-year deal.

It'll be interesting to see just how big the quarterback number is, but if we've learned anything, it's that the salary cap is something you can bend every which way without breaking it. The fact of the matter is, the Saints already have the best starting quarterback they've had since Drew Brees called it a career.

With this move, one would have to think that the Saints are the new favorites to come out of the NFC South just based purely on the quarterback landscape. It should also be a hoot to see where the national perception is on where they stand in the rest of the NFC, because much like the division, the conference isn't exactly glowing with franchise quarterbacks.

We can worry about all of that a bit down the road though. For now, no matter what your opinion on exactly HOW GOOD Derek Carr actually is, this is a happy day for fans of the New Orleans Saints. They've made the first big move, and it's up to everyone else to respond. Make no mistake about it, they're going for it, and that should be applauded.
