3 former New Orleans Saints players we’re glad are gone, 2 we wish stayed

Two more players the Saints won't miss
Jimmy Graham, TE
This is tough, because fans will always love Jimmy Graham. He's one of the best players to come through New Orleans, maybe ever. But, at this age, taking up a roster spot is just taking up space. Graham is a heck of a leader and locker room presence, and if he stuck around as a coach or assistant, that would be more than welcomed.
But, as a player, Graham doesn't offer much at this stage in his career. The roster spot and money paid wouldn't go to a productive use.
Andrus Peat, G
For a little while now, the Saints have had their issues with the salary cap. One guy who has consistently come up in conversations related to this topic is guard Andrus Peat. Last year, Peat agreed to take a pay cut which ended up putting him in a contract year. While that helped the Saints last year, they now have to deal with repercussions of yet another funky financial decision.
Having to take on $13 million in dead money because Peat did not re-sign with New Orleans isn't ideal. But, in the long run, New Orleans won't miss having to deal with another contract situation. It's something they've gotten themselves into over the years, but now need to slowly climb out of. Letting go of Peat is just another step toward that goal.
