Saints fifth-round pick: Luke Schoonmaker - Tight End (Michigan)

After something of a breakout season for Juwan Johnson, the Saints rewarded him with a contract extension. Yes, Taysom Hill is also technically listed as a tight end, but it's pretty safe to say there is still room for improvement in the tight end room.

This is not a knock on Johnson at all, this writer is actually a big fan of his, but a young second tight end is always a nice thing to have for any NFL offense. This is where the Michigan man that is Luke Schoonmaker would fit in nicely.

He's a big body at almost 6-feet-6-inches and about 250 pounds, and would be a nice target down the seam for the Saints new QB1. He's also a pretty decent blocker, as of course is tradition for Michigan men, even if he may need to bulk up a bit. As such, if he falls this far, which is very much in play, the Saints may not be able to run the ticket up fast enough.

Suddenly, the offense of the Saints is looking pretty good on paper, but of course games are played on the field and not on paper. Even still, there would certainly be understandable room for optimism after this draft haul to this point.
