Saints fourth-round pick: Tyjae Spears - Running Back (Tulane)

In a strong running back class with plenty of depth, it'll be easy for teams to sit and wait for one they like to fall into their laps, which is the right approach since drafting the one position with far and away the shortest NFL shelf-life is always risky.

While on paper the Saints may not need a running back, the future of Alvin Kamara is murky at best, and has been for a while even before his off the field shenanigans creeped up on him and reared their ugly head.

The Saints need to be proactive and not reactive, which is Tyjae Spears out of the Tulane Green Wave comes in.

Spears would provide great value at this spot, and would give the backfield of the Saints an added jolt that new free agent signing Jamaal Williams is expected to bring. You always need to keep your running back room young and fresh, and this being the first draft pick away from the trenches should have both the Saints front office, and their fans, excited for what's to come.

Suffice to say, this is a wave that New Orleans should definitely try to ride. Apologies, couldn't pass that opportunity up.
