The New Orleans Saints came away with more than their pride being battered and bruised. The Saints also came away with a battered and bruised starting lineup.

It's no secret that a lot of egos took a hit after Josh Dobbs and the Minnesota Vikings were responsible to dropping the New Orleans Saints record to 5-5. Sure, the Saints are still sitting in first place of the woebegone NFC South, and in the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king. That said, given the loss, you'd be forgiven if you think it's tough to feel excited about their first-place standing in the division.

While the egos of the players and the pride of fans (and vice versa) are left in a state of injury, the same can also be said for a few key pieces of this Saints lineup. Quarterback Derek Carr has already been dealing with a shoulder issue, and then had to leave the game with a concussion. That gave way to us getting the FULL James Winston experience once again.

Michael Thomas also went down, which gave rookie A.T. Perry some playing time, and even ended up catching a touchdown from the aforementioned Famous James. Elsewhere, there was Marshon Lattimore leaving the game on a cart, which is never a good sign. Fortunately, if you want to call that, none of the injuries appear to be as serious as they could have been, and the upcoming bye week is rather conveniently timed.

The New Orleans Saints are banged up, both on the injury report and on the field. That's life in the NFL though, as everyone is feeling all sorts of pain right about now. That said, it's tough to imagine anyone's eyes aren't also feeling sore at this point in the season, and we all better hope for things to start turning around quickly.
