Could Saints make a trade with Jets after Aaron Rodgers injury?

The NFL world was rocked after the injury to Aaron Rodgers, but is there an opportunity for the New Orleans to take advantage of in the aftermath of the injury?

In case you hadn't heard for some reason, Aaron Rodgers debut with the New York Jets was over pretty much before it really got off the ground, and it all happened in front of the world on Monday Night Football. Natrually, many are speculating what the Jets will do at quarterback now to go with their talented roster and ELITE defense. Could this be a situation where the New Orleans Saints could jump in? The Saints certainly have something to offer.

While Robert Saleh and company have come out and expressed their confidence in Zach Wilson (lost in all this is that the Jets did beat the Buffalo Bills after the catasrophe), that doesn't mean that others in NFL circles necessarily believes it.

Enter the Saints.

Speculation is running rampant on which veteran quarterback the Jets could bring in to steady the ship if they choose to go that route, and a deal with the Saints centered around Jameis Winston could benefit both sides.

Winston is a former number one overall draft pick, and we've seen what he can do with talent around him on offense. With the Jets, it would give him the best defense he's had, and an offense certainly not devoid of talent, so you can see why the Jets could be interested.

From the Saints side, the Jets would send back some draft capital to New Orleans, but it wouldn't exactly be spectacular. The thing is though, it doesn't have to be. We've seen time and time again that Mickey Loomis is willing to move heaven and earth to move up where he needs in the first round, so any ammo he can acquire is a positive.

This of course also depends on how confident the Saints are in Derek Carr, then of course Taysom Hill and Jake Haener (after suspension). Then again, the Saints could always bring in a veteran backup on the cheap too should this go down.

At the end of the day, nobody knows what will happen in the NFL, as week one has showed us. While this trade involving the New Orleans Saints and New York Jets in the aftermath of the Aaron Rodgers injury may sound a little crazy, would anyone be THAT shocked if it did go down?
