Saints 7-Round Mock Draft: Big trade gives Chris Olave a running mate
By Ryan Heckman
With their second of three picks in the fifth round, the Saints take a shot on Tennessee quarterback Joe Milton III. This guy was the talk of the Combine after chucking 70-yard dimes like it was nothing at all. He's far from a finished product, but Milton's arm strength is something to behold.
Ball placement is an issue and he'll need to develop further, but Milton is also not necessarily reckless with his throws. He finished his three years at Tennessee throwing just five interceptions in total. His size (6-foot-5) and arm strength are the main reason he'll get drafted. But, can he continue to develop and become a future starter? We'll see.
With their final pick in the fifth round, the Saints go after another potential weapon for Derek Carr. Illinois wide receiver Casey Washington stands 6-foot-1, 201 pounds and brings good size to the receiver position. His body control, especially after the catch, is impressive. He has strong hands, especially at the catch point.
The Saints can't go wrong here with Washington, who does a lot of the little things well. He's a technically-sound player with pretty good speed, but above all else, he'll do what's asked of him.
