The New Orleans Saints biggest rival made the first truly shocking pick of the 2023 NFL Draft, no doubt adding fuel for Saints fans to potentially trash talk.

The NFL Draft is always full of surprises, and boy has the 2023 NFL Draft proved that. One team that a lot of these "experts" (no one really knows anything) couldn't figure out was the New Orleans Saints biggest rival, the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons had the eighth pick, and what they did left Saints fans, Falcons fans, and all NFL fans stunned.

The Falcons have needs all over the place, particularly on defense, but also have a huge question mark at quarterback. With that being the case, Hotlanta decided to draft Bian Robinson out of Texas with the eight overall pick. A running back.

Let's not get it twisted. Robinson is an absolute stud, and should be in the NFL eventually. The thing is, drafting a running back is always a huge risk, and rarely worth it, and taking one TOP TEN exacerbates that point. When you have as many needs as the ATL does, it's no wonder fans were left scratching their collective heads.

Obviously we don't know what we don't know, players don't take the field for several months, but Saints fans will be justified in feeling mighty fine about the NFC South. Sure, the Carolina Panthers got Bryce Young while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are building their trenches in a similar fashion as the Saints, while the Falcons... took a running back. The division is still up for grabs, and the Saints still have the upper-hand.

The New Orleans Saints only made one pick in the first round, but thanks to another pick the NFC South made, it's understandable if fans think they came out as winners night one.

Next. Now for the Saints first-round pick. dark
