Marshon Lattimore had a legendary moment that cost him money his last time in Dallas

The New Orleans Saints are traveling to take on the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2, and that should bring some bittersweet memories for Marshon Lattimore.

On Sunday, the New Orleans Saints will play the Dallas Cowboys in AT&T Stadium. It will be New Orleans’ first game against the Cowboys since December of the 2021 season, when the two teams met in New Orleans, with Dallas coming away winning 27-17. The last time these two teams played in Texas, though, was in 2018. Dallas also won that game, escaping 13-10.

With the game low scoring, the defensive players were in the spotlight. One defender who really grabbed the spotlight that game was Saints corner Marshon Lattimore. Back in 2018, Lattimore was only in his second year but he was already a star. He also had one of the biggest moments of the game, not just for what he did during a play, but afterwards as well.

In the second quarter of the game, Dak Prescott completed a pass to Amari Cooper. Lattimore then made Cooper fumble, and also recovered the fumble. The play was great, but the celebration was even better. Lattimore, surrounded by his teammates, ran over to the famous Salvation Army kettle in Dallas’ stadium, pulled $23 out of his knee pad, counted it, and threw the money into the kettle.

Marshon Lattimore celebrated with a donation the last time Saints played the Cowboys in Dallas

It was a great celebration that took Joe Horn levels of preplanning, and the fans appreciated Lattimore’s preparation. Unfortunately for Lattimore, his donation ended up being far more than the planned $23, because the league fined him $13,369 for the celebration.

For some reason, the league isn’t a fan of the celebrations involving the Salvation Army kettle. That hasn’t stopped players from using it as a prop, though. From Ezekiel Elliot jumping in it, to Lattimore throwing money in it, to Philadelphia Eagles receiver DeVonta Smith pretending to steal from it, players have been willing to exchange fun for a fine.

Lattimore and the Saints are hoping the cornerback will be available and have a reason to celebrate again as they try to leave Texas with a win this time.
