Not a good look.

New Orleans Saints fans might have gotten their hopes up when it came to Justin Simmons joining the team and helping out the secondary in 2024 and potentially beyond. Unfortunately, the former Bronco made his decision and he opted to sign with the Saints' biggest rival, the Atlanta Falcons.

Signing with the Falcons would be a big enough pill for the Saints to swallow but it's not like the team didn't try to charm Simmons. New Orleans was Simmons' first stop on his eventual free agency tour and the team wined and dined him only for him to turn around and sign with their arch-nemesis.

This is truly a bad look for the Saints front office and coaching staff who struck out big-time here.

Saints lost out on Justin Simmons in the most brutal way

It's been a string of difficult offseasons for the Saints following Drew Brees' retirement and fans will continue to point the finger at Mickey Loomis. While Loomis used to be applauded for his ability to keep kicking the can down the road, it's feeling as though that ship has sailed. When the Saints should have knocked things down and rebuilt, Loomis decided to sign Derek Carr to a four-year deal worth $150 million.

Dennis Allen hasn't helped the case either. He hasn't been impressed with the safeties in training camp yet with Simmons, the team would have had a sure thing starting alongside Tyrann Mathieu at the position. Why then is Simmons not going to be donning the black and gold but the red and black instead?

Losing Simmons hurts enough but for him to sign an affordable one-year deal with the Falcons is devastating for the Saints. Now they'll not only not have him in their secondary in 2024 but their offense will have to go up against him twice a year.

The Saints really fumbled the bag on this one.
