Jameis Winston has perfect attitude towards Saints upcoming season
Jameis Winston is currently the QB2 for the New Orleans Saints, but the former number-one overall pick thinks he could be more for the Saints or anyone else.
It's kind of funny. With all of the ballyhoo surrounding the New Orleans Saints bringing in Derek Carr to be what they hope is their next franchise quarterback, Jameis Winston being re-signed seems like it got lost in the shuffle. The move and the money raised some eyebrows since Famous Jameis is clearly the second-string quarterback for the Saints, but that doesn't mean Winston is complacent.
When speaking about his role and the upcoming season at the Saints facility, Winston certainly wasn't shy, nor is he ever. Here's what he had to say:
""The main thing is the opportunity, and I'm just grateful every chance I get an opportunity to step into a building and play a sport I love. However, I know that I'm still a starting quarterback in this league. But, man, I have to be, like this is all a process. There's some Hall of Famers that made their big break at 30. So I'm still young, I'm still 29, but right now my role is to serve this team in the role that I'm in. And I'm all-in to doing that. Because again, I'm grateful for the opportunity to be able to still wear a Saints uniform or to be in the NFL in general."

He added: "Everyone has different journeys in this league. But it's challenging to be a NFL quarterback. And when you have an opportunity to be a starting NFL quarterback, you want to make the most of it. I've just had some unfortunate injuries over the past three years, so this is where I'm at. But this is not what I visualize being in the near future. But where I'm at right now is focusing on getting healthy, focusing on taking advantage of this opportunity I have to serve Derek [Carr], to serve this team and serve this organization the best that I can.""
If you're a Saints fan, it's hard to find things about that not to love. Winston understands what his role is, and is totally on board to help the team to the best of his abilities. It also helps that when he has been under center for the Saints, there have been flashes.
It's also easy to see why he still has his swagger. After all, the man was the number-one overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and cknows his way around the NFC South by now.
We got a long way to go, but as far as backup quarterbacks go, you'd be hard-pressed to find a team in a better position than the New Orleans Saints, and it's all thanks to the current mindset and attitude of Jameis Winston.
