Since joining the New Orleans Saints in 2020, Jameis Winston has endeared himself to the city in a way that only few athletes have. Despite starting only 10 games with the team, he has become a fan favorite and a locker room favorite, getting love everywhere he goes in New Orleans.

Winston is now set to enter free agency this offseason and his future in the city is officially in question. However, everyone from fans to players to media members have made it clear that they want Winston to return to the Saints. That’s also what Jameis wants.

In a true New Orleans fashion, Jameis Winston was at the Lundi Gras festival on Monday dancing and having a good time with the community. He took time to speak with WDSU’s Margaret Orr and talked about how much he loves the city of New Orleans and what his future with the Saints looks like.

Winston said that whatever the Lord has planned for him, he will follow, but he did admit that he hopes those plans are in New Orleans because he loves the city and wants to stay here forever.

Jameis Winston wants to return to the Saints

The interview showcased everything that everyone loves about Winston. With his traditional high-energy personality, Winston detailed how much he loves the people of New Orleans and the culture of the city, comparing the southern hospitality and love that everyone shows to his hometown in Alabama, but also making it clear that New Orleans is a one-of-one place.

Winston makes sure to give all of that love back to the community, saying that he will be taking as many pictures as fans want to take because they deserve it. Naturally, the interview ended with Jameis Winston dancing away into the crowd and embracing people.

There’s certainly not a better culture fit. That means whether or not Winston is re-signed is all about business. The front office has to decide that the Saints want him back and then both sides must agree on a deal. He’s certainly needed in the locker room and he’s still a capable starter if push comes to shove. So the Saints should grant everyone’s wish and keep Jameis Winston in New Orleans forever.
