The New Orleans Saints would currently hold a top-10 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft but they don't own the pick. It belongs to the Philadelphia Eagles.

That will obviously make it harder to find a franchise quarterback in the draft but fear not friends -- Luke Easterling of Draft Wire still thinks the Saints will find their signal-caller of the future in the second round. He has them selecting Kentucky's Will Levis in his latest mock draft.

While he doesn't provide insight on the pick (there is insight on first-round picks, but he doesn't include any past that), this pick would make sense. Levis had a bit of a down year after a promising junior campaign but was still okay. The Kentucky quarterback has currently passed for 2,406 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 10 picks while adding two touchdowns with his legs.

Will Levis to the Saints in the 2023 NFL Draft?

With Jameis Winston still under contract next season, the Saints have an option as a starter even though they haven't gone back to the former No. 1 overall pick after putting in Andy Dalton. Winston probably isn't going to generate much buzz as a trade candidate so the Saints are probably stuck with him.

Maybe Winston starts at quarterback while rotating with Taysom Hill and then if things are either really bad or Levis seems ready (whichever happens first), the youngster could give it a go. Honestly, the Saints should probably not throw Levis to the wolves during his first year but if injuries occur, they might not have a choice.

The hope is that if Levis does join this team that they take the time to develop him and let him become a good quarterback over time.

If all else fails and the team is even worse in 2023, however, maybe they have a top 5 pick and then just reset at the position in 2024. This isn't a fun position for the Saints to be in but if Levis is on the board when they make their first selection in the second round, he'd be hard to pass up on.
