Saints third head-turner: Tight End Lucas Krull

While the newly extended Juwan Johnson and the newly signed Foster Moreau are slated to be the top two tight ends on the Saints depth chart, that doesn't mean there isn't another open chair or two in the tight end room. Lucas Krull looks to be in a prime position to not only fill one of them, but watch game film of himself on Sundays while sitting there.

The former Pitt Panthers tight end has been one of the players that has been turning the most heads the short time OTAs have been in session, but one of those heads is the most important of all, and that's the head of head coach Dennis Allen.

Allen had this to say on the young tight end:

""Yeah look, I'm excited about Lucas. I think he's a young guy that showed some promise last year. He's got pretty good vertical speed down the field. Really good in terms of one-cut route running, seams and things of that nature. We're excited about him.""

Any Saints fan that isn't also excited after that simply doesn't like proof in their pudding. We knew that the route running and receiving ability were the biggest strengths in his game, but it's great to see he's ready to build on them. If he can keep that up, while also showing that he can improve as a blocker (which is admittedly tough to do in OTAs but we got time) then all of a sudden the Saints might have a pretty solid trio of tight ends on their hands.
