Number three free agency signing in Saints history: Demario Davis - Linebacker (2018)

If not for the astronomically great signing that comes in at number one on our list (you can probably guess which one), the Saints signing Demario Davis in 2018 would be almost impossible to top.

Davis spent four years with the New York Jets, one with the Cleveland Browns, then another with the Jets again before he was saved by the Saints. The Saints signed him to a three-year, $24 million contract with $16 million guaranteed, including a signing bonus of $9.20 million.

Worth it.

All Davis has done since coming to the bayou has been voted as a Pro Bowler this past season (for whatever that's worth now), been named second-team All-Pro three straight times between 2020-2022, and was named first-team All-Pro in 2019. He's also been a mulit-time Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nominee, which to many is as high an honor as there is.

Davis has also been one of the leaders on the team, and that role has been enhanced since the retirement of Brees. The fact that he has only missed one game over his career speaks volumes to the quality of player and person Davis is, and the Saints are beyond lucky to have him.
