All training camp, the New Orleans Saints have been looking wide receivers to step up. Coming into camp, it was clear Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed would be the top two guys, but things were wide open after that. Unfortunately, that remained the case until the third preseason game, as no wideout established themself as a consistent threat.

However, in the preseason finale against the Tennessee Titans, Equanimeous St. Brown did deliver a performance that’s worthy of a roster spot. While the other receivers on the roster bubble struggled, St. Brown shined.

In limited snaps, Brown only had three receptions for 40 yards and one touchdown. However, his 21-yard touchdown connection with Spencer Rattler was one of the highlights of the day. More importantly, though, he was one of the only reliable receivers on the field Sunday.

St. Brown, and second-year receiver A.T. Perry, both did what they needed to do to make the roster, but the rest of the receivers dropped several passes throughout the game. With the roster being trimmed to 53 players on Tuesday, St. Brown and Perry are likely the other two receivers that will make the roster along with Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and Cedrick Wilson Jr.

For St. Brown, he’s hoping to get back to consistently producing, after a down year with the Chicago Bears. As a rookie in 2018, with the Green Bay Packers, he had 21 receptions for 328 yards. He matched that production in 2022 with 21 catches for 323 yards and one touchdown in Chicago, but dipped down to just five receptions for 62 yards last season. He’ll have the opportunity to carve out a bigger role and be more productive with the Saints if he makes the roster.
