Saints announce Drew Brees will be inducted into the franchise’s Hall of Fame in 2024
It was only a matter of time before Drew Brees would be inducted into the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame. On Thursday, the team announced that time will come during the 2024 season. The Saints will officially induct Brees into the team’s Hall of Fame, and the franchise will also honor Doug Moreau with the Joe Gemelli "Fleur de Lis" award for all of his contributions to the organization in his 27 years with the team.
This announcement came with a press conference for both Brees and Moreau. Brees talked about how much of an honor it is to be inducted into the Saints Hall of Fame. He referred to his 15 years with the organization as the best time of his life, highlighting how much love he and his family received from New Orleans and the state of Louisiana as a whole.

Because Brees is now synonymous with the New Orleans Saints, it’s often easy to forget that his career didn’t start in New Orleans. Originally drafted by the San Diego Chargers, Brees came to the Saints as a free agent in 2006, and the rest is history.
In 15 seasons with New Orleans, Drew Brees completed 68.8% of his passes for 68,010 yards and 491 touchdowns. During his Saints tenure, he went to 12 Pro Bowls, won Offensive Player of the Year twice, led the league in passing yards seven times, and in passing touchdowns four times. He cemented himself as the greatest player in franchise history, one of the greatest players in the history of the league, and most importantly to Saints fans, brought New Orleans its first Super Bowl.
Once Brees announced his retirement after the 2020 season, the franchise could have put him in the Hall of Fame the very next day, because his induction was inevitable. The same can be said about the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but Brees must wait until 2026 to be eligible for that induction. In the meantime, he’ll prepare for his induction into the Saints Hall of Fame, though the team didn’t officially announce which week Brees will be inducted.
