4. Taliese Fuaga, T, Oregon State

The offensive tackle position limited the Saints offense this past year. Trevor Penning hasn’t panned out so far, Ryan Ramcyzk’s future is in question due to his injury, and Andrus Peat’s contract expired so he may not return. There are major questions the Saints need to answer if they want to build a great offense next year.

The selection of Taliese Fuaga would be an amazing pick. Everything the Saints could want out of a tackle, Fuaga has. He has played 1,510 total snaps in the past 2 years and hasn’t surrendered a single sack. He has good size at 6-foot-6 and 334 pounds and uses it to his advantage. It’s hard for a defensive lineman to move him.

The thing that Taliese Fuaga does best is block the run. He is an absolutely amazing run-blocker. Fuaga has the speed needed to get to the second level on run plays. Once he gets to that second level he turns into a headhunter. Fuaga is always looking to put someone on the ground.

Oregon State runs primarily a zone-run scheme. The New Orleans Saints, under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, are also going to run a zone running scheme. According to PFF Fuaga had 158 outside zone snaps which placed him 11th among offensive tackles. This shows that he has the experience and the productivity to help the Saints build an unstoppable offense.
