The New Orleans Saints, especially offensively, are coming off of a rough year. There are bright spots on the team, though. Derek Carr is a formidable quarterback who could shine next year, Alvin Kamara and Kendre Miller both could have massive years with the wide zone offense, and Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed are young, dynamic players who are both incredibly talented.

Even with these talented players on the roster, there are still spots on this team that need help. It’s going to take more than a new offensive coaching staff for this offense to become a top unit; New Orleans needs to add some new players to the mix. The team will be able to do that in the NFL Draft.

In the 2024 NFL draft, there are multiple players that could help the Saints build an unstoppable offense going into next season. Let’s take a look at five of those dream targets.

5. Xavier Leggete, WR, South Carolina

The first player who could help the Saints is Xavier Leggete, the wide receiver from South Carolina. Michael Thomas is most likely on his way out of New Orleans this offseason as a post-June 1 cut. That means that it is a necessity for the Saints to get another big-body wide receiver who can go get contested catches. A.T. Perry could fill that role but grabbing another receiver could elevate the team's receiving core substantially.

Leggete and Michael Thomas both stand at 6-foot-3 but Leggete actually weighs 15 pounds more than Thomas. When Thomas was injured this past season the Saints needed someone that Carr could simply throw a jump ball to. Legette would thrive in that department. This past season at South Carolina, Leggete caught 71 passes for 1,255 yards and seven touchdowns.

Xavier Leggete’s calling card is his athletic ability. He has great speed and jumping ability. It is going to be very interesting to see how Legette tests at the NFL Combine. It’s extremely evident on film how he can easily become a mismatch for defenses. With his speed and athleticism Leggete could be a major problem for defenses to try to scheme against.
