Derek Carr will be on the wrong kind of record watch entering the 2024 season

As Derek Carr prepares for his second season with the New Orleans Saints, he’s at risk of getting a record that no quarterback wants to possess.

Derek Carr is preparing for his second season with the New Orleans Saints. In year one, the veteran quarterback started all 17 games, completing 68.4% of his passes for 3,878 yards, 25 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. The Saints finished the year 9-8, a win shy of the postseason, and in true Derek Carr fashion, he became a polarizing player amongst fans.

Regardless of perception, Carr is gearing up for year two with the Saints and is looking to have a more successful season with new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. While Carr will be trying to lead the Saints to the playoffs, he’ll also be trying to avoid a disasterous record.

During the 2024 season, Derek Carr has the chance to become the first quarterback in NFL history that has lost to every franchise in the league.

Derek Carr could become first quarterback to lose to every team in NFL

Currently, Carr has lost to 30 of the 32 franchises. The two teams that he hasn’t lost to are the Carolina Panthers and the Las Vegas Raiders, who he spent nine seasons with. Both teams are on the Saints’ schedule in 2024, and of course, New Orleans will play the Panthers twice.

If Carr loses to Carolina and Las Vegas, he’ll be the first quarterback to drop a game to every team. He’s currently tied with nine other quarterbacks for the record of losses to 30 teams. Those quarterbacks are Jon Kitna, Drew Bledsoe, Carson Palmer, Brett Favre, Drew Brees, Matt Hassellbeck, Alex Smith, Joe Flacco, and Matt Ryan.

Evident by those names, it’s not the worst list to be on. Obviously, losing is never acceptable. However, feats like this are a badge of honor in away; it shows that a player has played a lot of games in the NFL, which is hard to do. Even Tom Brady and Russell Wilson are next on the list, losing games to 29 franchises.

Still, Carr doesn’t want to be the first quarterback to lose to every team in the league. He has to sweep the Carolina Panthers next season and get a win against his former team. Also, for what it’s worth, Carr has won against 27 teams in the NFL and could get that number up to 31 next season with wins against the Raiders, Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams, and Washington Commanders. Then, the Minnesota Vikings would be the only team left.
