Chris Olave believes in the Saints, despite a misleading viral clip saying otherwise
Entering the 2024 season, the New Orleans Saints need to prove they are contenders, and wide receiver Chris Olave will be a big part of that process. Entering his third year in the NFL, Olave is the undisputed No. 1 receiver for the Saints and he’s being asked to take things to another level.
As he prepares for year two with Derek Carr, and the team’s first year with offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, there has been a sense of excitement surrounding the team’s offense. In a post-practice interview with NFL Network, Olave was recently asked about that excitement.
Unfortunately, the young receiver’s words have been a bit manipulated and cycled around social media to paint the Saints in a bad light. When asked if there was one specific moment or play that happened in practice that let Olave know New Orleans was going to be good in 2024, the receiver laughed, stop to think, then said not really, before explaining he had that realization back in OTAs when the new offense was being installed.
However, in true internet fashion, a version of the video was stopped after Olave said not really. That edit went viral, as everyone laughed at the Saints.
Chris Olave believes Saints offense can be really good in 2024
Of course, New Orleans fans, and good-faith actors, posted the full clip, but anyone who’s familiar with the internet knows the actual clip didn’t make the rounds the edited clip did. The good news, though, is everyone in the building believes the offense will be much better in 2024.
Since Kubiak started to install the offense back in OTAs, coaches and players, on both sides of the ball, have raved about how impressive the offense is. With all of the movement and motions, the common theme has been that it’s clear why teams like the San Francisco 49ers have had the offensive success they have.
As the Saints continue to get comfortable with the offense, and keep evolving the scheme, they’ll hopefully put a unit on the field that can keep up with the defense, and get the franchise back to the playoffs.
