Best available players the Saints should target on Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft

Arizona TE Tanner McLachlan

Tanner McLachlan is the best tight end to come out of Arizona since Rob Gronkowski in 2010, and he won't have anywhere near the same draft pedigree. Despite weighing in at a relatively slender 243 pounds, he stands at 6-5 and plays with tremendous effort.

In his two seasons at Arizona, he broke Gronkowski's career record for catches with 79 while also being serviceable as a run-blocker. It's not that he doesn't want to block, he's just missing the mass for it.

He's not the fastest guy to play the position and he has short arms, but his hands are sticky and he regularly makes athletic catches for balls that are outside of his normal radius. Once the ball is in his hands, he's ferocious about getting every last yard. McLachlan brings a dog mentality to a position that needs someone willing to do the dirty work.
