Andrus Peat is officially no longer a member of the New Orleans Saints. The veteran offensive lineman, who’s preparing for his 10th season in the NFL, has recently found a new home. On Monday, it was reported that Peat is signing a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders. The details of the deal haven’t been announced, just that both sides have agreed, pending a physical.

Peat has played his entire nine-year career with the Saints, so this will be an entirely new experience for him.

Andrus Peat signs with Raiders

Selected with 13th-overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Stanford, Peat has been a standout offensive lineman since he entered the league, finding his way into the lineup as a rookie. During his career with the Saints, he played in 111 games, starting 102. During the nine seasons, he had a three-year stretch from 2018 to 2020 where he went to three straight Pro Bowls.

In his final year in New Orleans, he ended losing his left guard spot to veteran lineman James Hurst. However, Peat found his way back into the lineup, offering the Saints quality play at left tackle. Still, it was time for him to enter free agency after the season.

There was a belief that he could return to New Orleans because of the team’s need on the offensive line. Hurst retired, Ryan Ramczyk is dealing with a knee issue that could keep him sidelined, and no one knows where Trevor Penning is in his development. However, the Saints relied on the draft, selecting Taliese Fuaga with the 14th-overall pick. New Orleans will move on with Fuaga, and Andrus Peat will continue his career in Las Vegas with the Raiders. He will have a return to New Orleans when the Saints host the Raiders this season.
