Coming off a 9-8 season, and a third straight year without a playoff appearance, the New Orleans Saints will enter the 2024 season with a ton of critics. Among those critics is one of the NFL’s best receivers. Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown recently made his thoughts clear about the Saints.

On an episode of the “St. Brown Podcast,” a podcast with Amon-Ra and his brother, recently signed New Orleans receiver Equanimeous St. Brown, the two brothers went back and forth about their respective teams’ Super Bowl chances.

Amon-Ra said that the Lions are actually chasing a Super Bowl, and argued while the Saints may be saying they are, no one in the building believes New Orleans will actually win a Super Bowl in the upcoming season.

Amon-Ra St. Brown says Saints don’t believe they can win a Super Bowl

A lot of this is playful banter between two brothers, but the jokes also have some underlying facts. Amon-Ra and the Lions were in the NFC Championship game last season, leading 24-7 at halftime. They ultimately lost to the San Francisco 49ers 34-31, but Detroit is still considered one of the top contenders entering the season.

The Saints, on the other hand, were 9-8 and didn’t even win a struggling NFC South. Going into the 2024 season, everyone believes this is New Orleans’ last hurrah before the team starts a rebuild.

This reality is what Amon-Ra bluntly articulated to his brother. While it could be easy for Saints fans to hold some type of disdain for Amon-Ra, any negative feelings should be directed towards New Orleans for letting this be the team’s reputation. The Saints have fallen into a state of mediocrity and they have no one to blame but themselves.

The good news, though, is you can always prove yourself and change the narrative. New Orleans will have all season to make Amon-Ra St. Brown eat his words.
