4. Marcus Davenport

The Saints traded up in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft to select a mostly unknown defensive end named Marcus Davenport and it did not go well for them.

While Davenport had a nice year in 2021, the three seasons that came before that 2021 campaign did not go smoothly. Davenport had just 12 total sacks in his first three years combined and managed to notch nine sacks during that 2021 season. This past season, he tallied a career-low half a sack but did, for the most part, play well.

Davenport finished the season with respectable grades from PFF (76.8 overall, 69.7 run defense, 75.0 pass rush) and was an asset to the defense even if the sack totals didn't exactly display that. Spotrac has his market value at four years $93 million with an annual salary of $23.2 million. The Saints probably aren't going to pay him that kind of money but another team likely would be happy to dish that kind of cash out to Davenport.

It's fitting that Davenport's potential final play with the Saints involved him getting ejected from the game. Really sums up his career in New Orleans pretty well.
