The New Orleans Saints have been operating the receiving corps on a skeleton crew for the last two seasons, banking on ascendant young wideout Chris Olave carrying the load. The fact of the matter is that Olave, the corpse of Michael Thomas, Rashid Shaheed, and Juwan Johnson weren't enough to get the job done, and now, Thomas is a free agent. That means the group is even thinner.

The best teams in the NFL now often have two WR1-caliber pass-catchers; look at the Miami Dolphins, Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles, and San Francisco 49ers. The Saints need to get Olave a running mate (or two), so here are the five best options they should pursue through free agency and the 2024 NFL Draft.

Free agent receivers for Saints to target

Though the Miami Dolphins are reportedly interested in Odell Beckham Jr., the Saints would be remiss to not make a pass at the Louisiana native and LSU alum the same way they did Jarvis Landry and Tyrann Mathieu. He would slot in perfectly at the WR2 spot as a veteran presence behind Olave, and the possibility of a homecoming always sweetens the deal.

The 10-year veteran has certainly lost a step from his days with the New York Giants, and his stay in Cleveland was less than impressive. That said, his postseason run with the Los Angeles Rams was remarkable and essentially gave a new life to his career. He played a very serviceable role in Baltimore last year, logging over 500 yards and a trio of touchdowns, and he would be another piece of the puzzle that would have ties to New Orleans and the state of Louisiana.
